All About Campus Computer Labs

Our campus is Dell shop with an exception of Mac's running in the Art lab.

1. Where are the computer labs on campus?

  • Annex 122 - Art Lab - 12 Mac computers and 1 instructor Mac connected to a projector
  • Harbert 126 - Education Lab. There are 24 laptops on a mobile cart and 1 instructor computer connected to a ceiling mounted projector
  • Harbert 301 - Public access lab with classes held in this location. There are 36 computers and 1 instructor computer connected to 2 ceiling mounted projectors
  • Hill 41 - Music Lab - There are 4 computers in this lab
  • Humanities Building – There are multiple computer labs in this building
  • Writing Center in room 102 has 2 laptops
  • Speech Center in room 115 has 1 computer
  • Humanities computer lab in room 117 has 6 computers
  • Language Lab is in room Humanities 122 has 25 computers
  • Library – There are multiple public access computers and labs in this building
  • Public access – There are 26 computers on the ground, 1st and 2nd floors opens areas
  • Electronic Classroom – 17 computers and 1 instructor computer connected to a ceiling mounted projector
  • ARC – 12 computers, mostly used for Vector Works software
  • Norton Center - Public access lab with 12 computers
  • Olin 103 – ARC Tutoring Lab with 2 computers used by math students
  • Olin 104 - Math Lab - There are 18 computers and 1 instructor computer connected to a ceiling mounted projector
  • Olin 201 - This is a public access lab with classes held in this location. There are 24 computers and 1 instructor computer connected to a ceiling mounted projector. Used as Math and Computer Science lab
  • Olin 204 - This is a public access printing lab with 3 computers
  • SSC 240 - This is a public access lab with classes held in this location. There are 24 computers and 1 instructor computer connected to a ceiling mounted projector

2. How fast are the lab computers?

The college is planning to upgrade all lab and classroom computers to Windows 7 OS. Currently the lab computers are running Windows XP Pro on processors ranging from 1.8 to Intel Core 2 Quad with RAM from 1GB to 4GB. All computers have 40GB to 160GB SATA drive and CD/DVD RW drives. Convenient USB port access is also available for using personal thumb drives.

3. What is the data storage policy on lab computers?

All lab computers have special software Deep Freeze which prevents any files to be stored locally on the computers. A simple restart removes all documents from the computers and brings back the computers to its original state. Therefore, save your file/document on an USB drive or email to yourself while working in the computer labs on campus.

4. What are the lab hours?

Olin 201, Olin 204 and the Norton center labs are open 24hrs. All other labs are open according to the building hours.

5. Which software is located in which computer labs?

All campus owned computers have Microsoft Office 2007, Acrobat Reader, and Winzip, WS_FTP, and Microsoft Forefront virus protection software. Starting Fall 2012 SPSS version 20 will be available on all lab computers.

  • Art Lab: 12 Mac's have Adobe Photoshop CS3, Adobe Creative Suite 2, Adobe Illustrator CS3, Dreamweaver CS3, Final Cut Pro, Microsoft Office 2007 and Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.
  • Library's ARC Lab: ARC GIS, Pinnacle studio, Adobe Photoshop elements, Inspiration8, Corel Painter, Watcom Tablet, WYSIWYG, Efex Pro 2.0, Adobe Photoshop CS2, Adobe Distiller 9, K-Lite Codec Pack,Vector Works 12.0.1
  • Harbert 301 Lab: has SPSS 19, ARC GIS
  • Education Lab: Inspiration 8 and Kidspiration 8
  • Olin 201 Lab: SPSS 20, Minitab 16, Maple 15, Matlab R2012
  • Olin 204 Lab: SPSS 20, Minitab 16, Maple 15, Matlab R2012
  • Olin 104 Lab: SPSS 20, Minitab 16, Maple 15, Matlab R2012
  • Library Public Access Computers: Only basic college owned software is available in these computers
  • Library's Electronic Classroom: ARC GIS
  • Library's ARC Lab: ARC GIS, Pinnacle studio, Adobe Photoshop elements, Inspiration8, Corel Painter, Watcom Tablet, WYSIWYG, Efex Pro 2.0, Adobe Photoshop CS2, Adobe Distiller 9, K-Lite Codec Pack,Vector Works 12.0.1
  • Humanities Lab: Only basic college owned software is available in these computers
  • Humanities Language Lab: Heinle, Sans Faute, Tell-Me-More Network
