Tuition Payment Options

Birmingham-Southern is aware of the growing challenge of financing a quality liberal arts education today. Although BSC feels that the principal responsibility of financing a college education lies with the student's family, the College continues to be committed in assisting families with various affordable payment alternatives.

Online Bill Payment- TheSIS

Our secure processing of online payments for student accounts ensures the fastest delivery of your funds. To pay a student's bill online, log into the student TheSIS system and select the "Make a Payment" option. Follow the online prompts and retain the payment confirmation number for your records.

BSC Telephone Cashier Payment

The BSC Telephone Cashier is a secure automated telephone payment system. To pay a student's bill by phone call 1-866-894-3709 and follow the automated prompts. Be sure to have the student's 7-digit account number available and remain on the line until you receive a payment confirmation number.

Payment Convenience Fees

As of August 1, 2010, Birmingham-Southern College will assess the following convenience fees for payments by credit or debit card and electronic check:

Each credit and debit card payment will be charged a 2.5% convenience fee by the college's credit card processing vendor, Official Payments (payments made via the BSC telephone cashier and via TheSIS on the BSC website).

Each monthly payment plan transaction using a debit or credit card will be charged a 2.9% convenience fee by Tuition Management Systems, the college's monthly payment plan administrator.

Each student account payment made by electronic check (eCheck) will incur a $3.00 convenience fee by Official Payments, the college's online electronic check vendor.

The college still accepts cash and paper check payments with no processing fee: checks and cash at the cashier's window in the Student Services Building on campus, or checks by mail to BSC Student Accounts Office, 900 Arkadelphia Road, Box 549040, Birmingham, AL 35254.

The College also accepts check payments by mail and payments made by cash and check at the Student Services Cashier's teller window.

Interest-Free Monthly Payment Option
Tuition Management Systems

Education expenses are easier to pay when spread over predictable, interest-free monthly payments. Our Interest-Free Monthly Payment Option, offered in partnership with Tuition Management Systems, is an alternative to large annual or term payments and helps limit borrowing. It is available for a small enrollment fee and includes:

24-hour account access through Tuition Management Systems' web site

Toll-free automated account information

Toll-free personal service Monday-Saturday at 1-888-210-5765

Due dates are as follows:

10-month: July 1st

Payment plan budgets include annual tuition, room, meal plan, books, lab fees, parking fees, and any other fees the participant would like to include. Participants can deduct loans, grants, or scholarships except Work-Study or Alabama State Grant credits.

Monthly Payment Plan Calculator (requires MS Excel)

Important Information:

BSC requires all TMS participants to complete a Monthly Payment Plan Calculator form. This form is not an enrollment form; it’s purpose is to assist students with estimating an annual budget and to provide the Student Accounts Office with important registration clearance information.

TMS participants are required to keep a copy of the Monthly Payment Plan Calculator form to refer to each month.

Students may not include prior balances or summer term charges on the TMS Payment Plan.

If a student’s payment plan is cancelled by TMS as a result of non-payment, the student is not allowed to re-enroll in a future payment plan.
