Teach Abroad

1. Teach in Japan
   This program offers an opportunity to promote mutual understanding and friendship between the sister cities of Hitachi and Birmingham through teaching English as a foreign language. The position of Assistant English Teacher consultant is open to BSC graduating seniors. (AETs are employed on a 2 year contractual basis. Click here for more information.

2. Teach in Hungary
   All graduating seniors are eligible to apply for an instructor position teaching English as a Foreign Language and American Culture at secondary schools in our sister city, Szekesfehervar, Hungary. Contact Dr. Ed LaMonte, Emeritus Director of Sklenar Center, for application information at (elamonte@bsc.edu). Deadline for submitting materials is the third Wednesday in February.

3. Teach In France
   The Cultural Services of the French Embassy promote the best of French arts, literature, and education to cultural and academic institution across the United States, with a strong focus on the contemporary. Please visit http://www.frenchculture.org/ for more information.

4. Teach in Spain
   Grants for teaching English Language and culture abroad in Spain through the government of Spain's Department of Education. Application deadlines in late March. Please visit http://www.mec.es/sgci/usa/en/programs/us_assistants/default.shtml for more information.

5. Teach/Study in Spain
   The institute for North American Studies of the Universidad de Alcalá (IUIEN-UAH), Spain, offers students the unique opportunity of participating in the "Teach and Learn in Spain Study Program" and receive a scholarship to study a "Máster en Enseñanza de la Lengua, Literatura y Cultura en el Mundo Hispánico" or a "Master in Bilingual and Multicultural Education." 6. JET
