Development Seminars
- Council International Educational Exchange (CIEE): CIEE
is a leading non-profit, non-governmental international education
organization. Its faculty seminars are intensive educational experiences
designed to explore fascinations, challenge preconceptions and open
eyes to global issues shaping the world today. Each program features
lectures, site visits, and discussions with overseas academics and
colleagues. Choose from unique and challenging seminar themes offered
in an array of countries that span the globe. Faculty or Administrators
at the college or university level with any academic concentration
are encouraged to apply. Participants do not need to be experts on
the seminar topic or region. There is a fee for these seminars, but
some discounts and fellowships are available. Please visit http://www.ciee.org/IFDS.aspx or
the OIP for more detailed information.
- Fulbright Grant - International Education Administrators
(IEA) Program: The seminars are designed to introduce
participants to the society, culture and higher education systems
of Germany, Japan, and Korea through campus visits, meetings with
foreign colleagues and government officials, attendance at cultural
events and briefings on education. International education professionals
and senior university administrators (e.g., deans, provosts, vice
presidents) with significant responsibility for international programs
and activities are eligible for this grant. Seminars usually last
for two to three weeks. Find out more about this program at http://www.cies.org/IEA/ or
at the OIP.
Research Projects and Exchange
- Fulbright Grant -Traditional Scholar Program: The
traditional Fulbright Scholar Program sends 800 U.S. faculty and
professionals abroad each year. Grantees lecture and conduct research
in a wide variety of academic and professional fields, from two
months up to one year. Faculty (including adjunct and retired),
administrators, and other professionals may choose from awards
in over 45 disciplines or shape their own project. Visit the OIP
or http://www.cies.org/us_scholars/us_awards/ for
more information.
- Fulbright Grant - Senior Specialist Program: The
Fulbright Senior Specialists Program is designed to provide short-term
academic opportunities (two to six weeks) for U.S. faculty and
professionals. The program differs from the traditional Fulbright
Scholar competition in that the Council for International Exchange
of Scholars (CIES) builds a roster of specialists in a variety
of disciplines through an open application process. The program
receives project requests from Fulbright Commissions and US Embassies
Worldwide and matches these requests with approved candidates from
our roster. Visit the OIP or http://www.cies.org/specialists/ for
further information on this grant.
- NAFSA Cooperative Grants Program (COOP): NAFSA's
Cooperative Grants Program provides seed funding for creative programs
involving U.S. and international students and scholars, community
members, faculty, and campus staff. Projects have previously fallen
into the categories of 1) Involving International and U.S. Education
Abroad Students in Campus and Community Life, 2) Education Abroad--Recruitment,
Pre-Departure, and Re-Entry, 3) Student Career and Leadership Development,
4) Understanding Current Events and U.S. Government, Society, and
Culture, and 5) International Student Adjustment--Orientation,
Cross-Cultural Communication, Family, Health, and ESL. To view
sample projects, see contact information, or find more details
on this grant program, please visit http://www.nafsa.org/about.sec/institutional_grants/coop.
- Fulbright Grant - New Century Scholar Program: Each
year approximately 30 outstanding research scholars and professionals
from the U.S. and abroad will be selected to participate in the
program through an open competition. These grants offer an international
exchange opportunity of two to six months for research related
to the selected topic, meanwhile exchanging ideas with the other
scholars. Scholars share the outcome of their collaborative work
with national and international organizations in a final seminar
in the Washington, D.C. area. For more details on this program,
visit the OIP or http://www.cies.org/NCS/ .
