The BSC Panther Pride Marching Band

Bring on the Band!

In 2008, football returned to the Birmingham-Southern College campus with a new stadium home—and a decisive Homecoming victory!

Now it's time to bring back another grand tradition: the Marching Band. Come be part of The BSC Panther Pride Marching Band for our inaugural season in Fall 2010.

The Panther Pride Marching Band:

Is open to all BSC students—wind instruments, percussion, color guard, and drum majors
Offers scholarships to all members
Performs at all home football games

$1,000 Participation Scholarship

All BSC students who participate in the Marching and Symphonic bands during the entire academic year receive a $1,000 annual participation scholarship!

Please note: Future BSC students should submit their admission application by January 1, 2010, for priority consideration for membership in the Panther Pride Marching Band.

J. Lynn Thompson – Director (BSC Music Faculty)

Matt Owen - Drill Instructor/Low Brass Specialist
Not only a talented and experienced drill and marching instructor, Matt is an outstanding tuba player performing with Spirit Drum and Bugle Corps, Court of Honor Drum and Bugle Corps, the 151st Army Band, and the 116th Army Band.

Alex Hinson - Percussion Instructor/Drum Music Writer
Alex is a percussion instructor and technician for the University of Alabama who has performed with The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps, The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps, and Memphis Sound Drum and Bugle Corps.

Jennifer Waters - Color Guard Instructor/Wardrobe Manager (BSC Admission Staff)

Brett Bawcum - Music Arranger/Drill Writer
Brett is an instructor for the University of Georgia with a successful career in arranging and drill writing.

Daniel Western - Woodwind Instructor (BSC Adjunct Professor and Director of the BSC Jazz Ensemble)

Ben Posey - Brass Instructor
Ben has experience with several DCI groups, works with local high school and college marching programs, and is a successful free-lance artist all around the Southeast.
