Instrumental Ensembles

Panther Pride Marching Band

The Panther Pride Marching Band tradition continues!!! As the band grows in numbers, the focus remains on the development of personal abilities. The Marching Band performs at all home football games and membership is open to all BSC students. Drum Major, Drumline, Color Guard, and Leadership clinics occur at the end of the spring semester for all interested students. Please contact Mr. Posey for more information at bposey@bsc.edu.

Symphonic Band

Students in the Symphonic Band explore a varied repertoire of works for wind, brass, and percussion and perform concerts throughout the fall and spring semesters. The focus of the Symphonic Band is to increase the individual's quality of performing on their instrument. When the Marching Band season comes to a close, the Symphonic Band begins in the fall and is open to all students with prior musical experience. Jazz Ensemble

The Jazz Band performs big band and combo literature from various areas of the jazz repertoire. Students have the opportunity to perform as a soloist in several styles such as standard jazz charts, Latin music, funk, and several types of dance music. Membership is open to all BSC students. To check the availability of openings, contact Mr. Posey at bposey@bsc.edu.

Guitar Ensemble

Students in the Guitar Ensemble work on music either arranged or written specifically for guitar ensemble, ranging in styles from renaissance to 20th Century. The Guitar Ensemble allows students to experience music of great composers who didn't write for the guitar. This ensemble meets twice per week and previous study in classical guitar is required. A recital is planned during the academic year.

Red Mountain Chamber Orchestra

The Red Mountain Chamber Orchestra is open to BSC students on a space-available basis. The orchestra performs regularly on campus and throughout the city. Rehearsals are held on Sundays in the Hill Music Building or Phillips Building. Students may register for orchestra ensemble credit. Contact Mr. Posey for more availablility at bposey@bsc.edu.

Basketball Band

The BSC Pep Band has a long-standing tradition of entertaining the campus community and supporting our basketball teams. The Basketball Band performs at home games for the men and women's teams. To be placed in this ensemble, students should contact Mr. Posey at bposey@bsc.edu to discuss the instrument openings available and be added to the list of performers.
