The study of a foreign language is one that opens doors to other cultures andotherways of thinking. In this Illustration of Paris bridgerespect such a study is an integral part of the liberal arts curriculum. In addition, the ability to communicate in a second language is often the stepping stone to important careers in diplomacy and international business. A reading knowledge of other languagesis often a requirement for the completion of graduate studies in many different fields. Thus the MFL department endeavors to broaden students' perspectiveswhile preparing them for success in the future.
