How to find an internship

Student on internship

You should begin searching for internships well in advance of your desired start date in order to take advantage of the best opportunities. BSC offers multiple ways for you to conduct your search:

  • Visit the Assistant Director of Internships in Norton 266 to discuss interests, skills, and goals and find opportunities through our network of partners, including BSC alumni and the Norton Board.
  • Browse the Internships Moodle page for current opportunities.
  • Apply for a Hess Fellows Advocacy or Poverty Internship for an in-depth nonprofit experience.
  • Find E-term internship courses in the Exploration Term Bulletin
  • Ask faculty members about connections to internships in their fields of study. Check departmental websites for area-specific options.
  • Find a mentor who can help you gain an understanding of a particular field and point you towards internship opportunities.
  • Check the course listing each semester for classes with a built-in internship component. These may be required for some majors and pre-professional programs.
  • Learn about international opportunities linked to study abroad programs.
  • Visit the Birmingham Business Alliance’s internship portal for opportunities throughout the metropolitan area.
  • Log in to the College Central Network to post your resume and search for opportunities nationwide.
  • No matter how you find their internships, the internship staff can help you navigate paperwork, specific requirements, and more.
