Research, scholarship, and/or creative work are vital to maintaining and advancing the College's academic mission. The College fosters the intellectual and personal development of students through excellence in teaching and scholarship. In pursuit of these goals the College has established an Institutional Review Board (IRB) to ensure the ethical treatment of human subjects in research conducted under the auspices of the College.

The BSC IRB is responsible for reviewing all human participant research done under the auspices of the College according to the Department of Health and Human Services Code of Federal Regulations 45 CFR 46 and all applicable state laws. The IRB is charged with ensuring that human participants are treated in a just and ethical manner as defined by the guiding principles of The Belmont Report. All research involving human participants conducted under the auspices of the College must be reviewed by the BSC IRB prior to the start of the study. To determine if your research qualifies for review, start with the Do I need IRB Review? page.
