Woodrow Wilson Elementary
I hear and I forget.
I see and I remember.
I do and I understand.

- Transportation to the school (or about 15 minutes to walk).
- Interest in working with children.
- Kind, caring concern.
How much time does it take?
- Tutoring: about an hour a week -- two if you can make it twice a week.
- Mentoring: about an hour a week.
- Assisting a teacher: 1-2 hours a week.
- Special Activities: 3-4 hours at random times.

What if…
I'm running late?
Call the school office (783-6195) so that they know you are late but haven't forgotten. The children really look forward to your time with them, so it is important to stay in touch.
I know ahead of time that I have a test and can't make it on my designated day?
Make sure that the child (or teacher) knows that you won't be there. You might tell the principal so that he knows too.
Something comes up and I can't do my shift that day?
Call the office to ask them to get a message to the child or teacher so they are not waiting for you.
I decide I don't want to do Woodrow Wilson anymore?
Inform our office (4720) and share the reasons with us. We will use the information to improve the program.
