Our Mission

Working together toward a more just and humane world, the Hess Center for Leadership and Service will engage Birmingham-Southern College and the larger community in the theoretical study of leadership and service and their practical applications,thus integrating leadership and service into the learning experience of every Birmingham-Southern College student.

Goals

• Provide academic and experiential leadership and service programs.
• Emphasize the importance of moral and civic imagination by providing leadership and service opportunities locally, nationally, and internationally.
• Provide resources on leadership and service for institutions of higher education, communities of faith, and service organizations.
• Share the Center’s experiences with a broader audience.
