Compass
Leadership plays an important role in our day-to-day lives. We worry about the decisions of bad leaders, ponder the influences of strong leaders, and struggle with our own leadership endeavors. We wonder if power necessitates corruption or if leaders can use their power to serve others. Leadership is a broad phenomenon with many understandings, but our knowledge and continued discussion of this elusive concept can help us to better understand the human condition.
Started in 1999, Compass fosters an academic discussion of leadership and its purpose in the world. A compass is a symbol of discovery; thus, the publication provides a forum for students, faculty, and the community at large to discover new insights into age-old leadership questions.
Compass publishes academic papers submitted by BSC students, faculty, and alumni. The Editor-in-Chief and Assistant Editor are both students. The publication is funded by the Student Government Association and Ronne and Donald Hess.
