Courses in Japanese
- JN 101 Elementary Japanese I (1)
- An introduction to spoken and written Japanese, and Japanese
culture. Developing oral proficiency in the basic expressions
and sentence patterns of ordinary conversation, along with the
ability to handle the rudiments of the writing system. This course
is designed for students with no background in Japanese. Fall.
- JN 102 Elementary Japanese II (1)
- A continuation of JN 101. Prerequisite: JN 101. Spring.
- JN 201 Second Year Japanese I (1)
- A continuation of JN 102. This third semester introductory
course gives students the opportunity to continue developing written
and oral proficiency. Reading skills as well as listening comprehension
are also emphasized. Prerequisite: JN 102 or consent. Fall.
