Master of Arts in Public and Private Managemen

MPPM students build a dynamic learning community.

The MPPM program selects students who will enrich the learning experiences of their fellow students. Typical students are professionals: managers in private enterprises or within public domains, including physicians, engineers, or attorneys. From these diverse backgrounds, students share perspectives on leadership and management. Students are selected for the MPPM program with differing educational backgrounds, life experiences, academic achievements, and motivations for learning. The interdependency of student relationships is a major focus of the MPPM program. Through group projects and assignments, students invest time and energy in each other's learning. The MPPM faculty encourages students to learn from one another as colleagues.

"Students in the MPPM program are 'people first; students second.'"
-Mark Midyette, Account Services Executive, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, Class of 1989

Professionals who are also students have responsibilities and obligations beyond the classroom. The MPPM program is designed to meet the needs of working professionals while maintaining high academic standards.

"I made a conscious and deliberate selection of the MPPM program over an MBA. With an undergraduate degree and a masters in engineering, I did not need an elaborate series of courses giving me additional training in only analytical techniques. I wanted to enhance my critical and strategic thinking skills. The MPPM program fully delivered in these areas as evidenced by my promotion to President and COO of a multi-million dollar international company"
-William Foreman, Consultant and former President and Chief Operating Officer, Schreiber Corporation, Class of 1994
