Mission Statement

Mission of the Business Administration Department

In the Department of Business, knowledge gained from a liberal arts education is blended with the practical realm of organizational life. The faculty are committed primarily to teaching and advising, and they engage in professional development and intellectual contributions that enrich the dynamics of teaching and learning. The learning environment is adapted to be responsive to the needs of undergraduate students. Graduates of the Department are equipped to pursue graduate education in a variety of fields and/or to work successfully in their chosen occupations. Graduates are prepared to become managers, entrepreneurs, and leaders in a variety of organizational settings.

Vision of the Business Administration Department

Birmingham-Southern College's Department of Business will be built on the distinction of teaching organizational leadership and management in a traditional liberal arts setting. The Department will be dedicated to fostering a collaborative learning community that nurtures and develops students so that they are prepared for the future and confident about the substantive contributions that they will be able to make. Birmingham-Southern College features undergraduate programs leading to the major in Business Administration and the minor in Business Administration.
