HICA gardenThe Hispanic Interest Coalition of Alabama (HICA)

Since 1999, HICA has devoted its efforts to providing services and support to members of the Hispanic community in Birmingham and Alabama.  In addition to language training, HICA concentrates its efforts on health care, education, economic development, legal issues and community outreach.

Birmingham-Southern students work with HICA in a number of capacities – as interns, volunteers, and hourly employees.  Bilingual volunteers assist clients and in the office, and non-Spanish speakers can help teach citizenship and language classes.
