Following the April 2011 tornadoes, Habitat Birmingham Partnered with the Central Alabama Long- Term Recovery Committee to help with disaster recovery.

Mrs. Taylor was one of many who lost their home in Pratt City on April 27, 2011. In Partnership with the American Institute of Architects, Birmingham Southern College, Briarwood Christian School, Central Alabama Long- Term Recovery Committee, and State Farms Insurance, Mrs. Taylor will be moving into her new home in April 2012.

2011 Build Project

BSC’s Habitat for Humanity chapter is currently helping sponsor a build for Reece Johnson. Reece was born and raised in Birmingham with two sisters and two brothers. She graduated from Carver High in 2001 and currently works at both Zarzaur & Schwartz as Document Coordinator and Western Supermarket as a Cashier.

Reece plans to return to school to become a surgical technician, as well as eventually getting married and having children. She enjoys reading, eating, and watching TV in her spare time.

“Owning a home is going to change my life,” Reece says. “Thanks so much for this opportunity.”
