Faculty Resources
The Bunting Center has a wide variety of resources to assist faculty members in brainstorming, course development and revision, community partner identification and collaboration, and project design, implementation and evaluation.
Successful courses which include service-learning:
- Identify and address a need in the community (campus, local, regional, or global)
- Meet course objectives and demonstrate a clear connection between the community activity
- and the course content
- Involve structured reflection through journaling, class discussion, or reflective essays
- Invite the community partner to share in classroom dialogue, discussion, and scholarship
- Involve reciprocity between course and community that results in students increased civic awareness, leadership, diversity, and engagement
