Ben Jones
Vestavia Hills, AL
Birmingham-Southern senior biology major Ben Jones has been getting more out of his biology degree than just a mastery of science. Jones credits his classes and professors for helping him become more comfortable with his speaking and presentation skills as well.
“My professors have all helped me to develop my speaking skills, not only from their comments after my presentation, but their willingness to help me prepare with advice and insight on style and content.”
A native of Vestavia Hills, Jones is keeping busy entering his final year in the biology department at BSC. He is currently working on his senior research project, which examines the links between asthma and the human immune system.
When he's not at class or in the lab, Jones is involved with a number of other activities that keep him busy. He is a member of BSC's Students Offering Support (S.O.S.) group, as well as Alpha Epsilon Delta, Phi Eta Sigma, and Alpha Lambda Delta. Jones is also a member of the Theta Chi fraternity.
Jones plans to head off to medical school after graduation and study to become a doctor with a specialty in oncology.
