Brian Davis
Talladega, AL
From wading in rivers to studying the functions of proteins, Birmingham-Southern senior biology major Brian Davis is getting his fill before heading off to medical school.
A native of Talladega, Davis is hard at work studying the enzyme acetylcholinesterase and learning more about the processes of scientific research. He credits the input of his professors for his ever-increasing interest in biology.
"My professors do a superb job of emphasizing a conceptual understanding of the various biological systems,” he says. “As a result, my critical thinking abilities have significantly improved.”
Davis, who also participates in Birmingham-Southern's Leadership Studies program, says he looks forward to applying all that he has learned in the medical field.
“I have acquired a broad understanding of the biological sciences,” he says. “This will certainly benefit me in the healthcare field more than specific knowledge of cellular mechanisms and organs in the human body. I look forward to applying these skills, and I will cherish the relationships fostered during my time at Birmingham-Southern.”
