The BSC Museum Collection

Daniel Clark HollimanDid you know Birmingham-Southern has its own museum? The BSC Biology Museum is home to teaching and research collections of reptiles, amphibians, birds, mammals, vertebrate skeletons, plants (herbarium), rocks and minerals, fossils, mollusks, and maps.

This invaluable resource was established and built by the efforts of emeritus (retired) biology professor Daniel Clark Holliman. The funding for the collections room came from alums who worked with Dr. Holliman during his many years at BSC.

If you are interested in a career that would involve museum curating and/or research taxonomy, then you should consider signing up to help maintain this wonderful collection. There are also opportunities for student research projects involving the use of existing specimens and/or the addition of new specimens. Talk with your faculty about the possibilities.
