Placement Exams & Tutorials in Physics/ Chemistry
(PH 121/ CH 121)
A general discussion of placement at the College can be found at the placement page.
The physics/ chemistry placement exam is required for any student who plans to enroll in CH 121 or PH 121. The exam determines whether a student is exempt from the mathematics tutorial that supplements each course.
The placement exam must be completed before classes begin. It is typically offered during first-year orientation.
Each student planning to take CH 121 or PH 121 must also enroll in the tutorial unless s/he earns a sufficient score on the placement exam. Any student seeking additional practice in problem solving may enroll in the tutorial regardless of his or her score on the placement exam.
