Information for Non-Majors
Recommended courses and advice for non-majors.
The modern foreign language faculty recommends that non-majors enroll in foreign language courses early in their academic career, particularly if they have prior experience with a language. The modern foreign language faculty recommends that if students plan to take two or more units in a language that they do so in consecutive semesters.
Information for Spanish Majors
Explorations curriculum requirement in Connectivity. All students must complete a scholarly senior seminar, Exploration term, or independent study as deemed appropriate by disciplinary faculty in the major. Modern foreign language programs satisfy this requirement through FR 499, GN 499, or SN 499 Senior Exploration Term Project.
All majors at the College require a senior conference. Modern foreign language programs satisfy this requirement through the presentation and defense of a lengthy paper written in the senior Exploration term. The student defends the paper in English before the entire modern foreign language faculty.
