Gen. Charles C. KrulakPresident Krulak announces retirement
Speaking at a campus-wide gathering on Tuesday, Gen. Charles C. Krulak announced his plans to retire as president of Birmingham-Southern College in June 2015. Krulak told students, faculty, and staff that he feels it is the right time to make a leadership transition at the college.

BSC President condemns torture
Gen. Charles C. Krulak, wrote an op-ed in US Today condemning the use of "enhanced interrogation" techniques detailed in the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence's report on the CIA torture program.

Tuberville garners Preservice Art Educator of the Year award
Susan Tuberville '14, who is doing her student teaching internship on the Birmingham-Southern campus this fall, has been recognized as Alabama's Preservice Art Educator of the Year by the Alabama Art Education Association.

BSC student selected as national Venturing president
Maddie Culwell, a junior biology student from Oneonta, is the face of the Boy Scouts of America Venturing Program for a year. Culwell was chosen as the national president of the youth development program.

SEC named "Students to Stewards" grant winner
The Southern Environmental Center was among 25 schools and nonprofit organizations in the state to receive a conservation grant from the Alabama Power Co. Foundation's "Students to Stewards" program.

Birmingham-Southern student wins $1,000 Alfa Scholarship
BSC first-year student Nellie Stallsmith, who is majoring in psychology, was named among the 50 recipients of the 2014 Alfa Foundation Scholarship.
