Black History MonthBSC celebrating Black History Month
The college is celebrating Black History Month under the national theme "A Century of Black Life, History, and Culture," with a schedule of public lectures and presentations, community service, music, and art. Birmingham-Southern students will engage in a day of service on Feb. 27 in honor of Martin Luther King.

Judge for U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces to speak
The Hon. Judge Margaret Ryan, member of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces and Professorial Lecturer in Law at the George Washington University School of Law, will deliver the 2015 William M. Acker, Jr., Visiting Scholar Lecture at Birmingham-Southern College.

BSC music professor to present recital March 1
Dr. Leon Couch, an organist, pianist, and keyboardist and member of the college's music faculty, will present a recital this Sunday at the Hill Recital Hall. The recital will begin at 3 p.m. and is free and open to the public. The program, which is about 80 minutes long, will include organ works by Dietrich Buxtehude, Gerard Bunk, Emma Lou Diemer, Bonnie Miksch, and Louis Vierne. Prof. Jacqueline Leary-Warsaw will be a guest soloist.

College launches campaign in honor of retiring president
Birmingham-Southern College has launched a fundraising campaign in honor of its 13th president, Gen. Charles C. Krulak, who plans to retire this year.

BSC men win SAA Swimming and Diving Championship
With a meet-record 975 points, the men's swimming and diving team won the 2015 Southern Athletic Association Championship Feb. 14 at the Birmingham CrossPlex. The women finished a very close second to Rhodes, by less than two seconds, in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

College celebrates successes of swimming and diving teams
Just two years after they began, Birmingham-Southern's swimming and diving teams have already made their mark on the sport.

BSC opens second blended learning classroom
Birmingham-Southern College will launch its second digital classroom, a partnership with Locust Fork High School, on Monday, Feb. 9.

Gen. Krulak featured in Chronicle of Higher Education
In a video conversation with the Chronicle titled "On Leadership," Gen. Krulak talks about the symbolic and substantive steps that he and the college took to get BSC on the path to success... including why he thought it was important to live in a residence hall.

College offering several free lectures in February
Along with an art exhibition and concerts by students and faculty, Birmingham-Southern College is offering a full line-up of lectures this month on a variety of subjects. All the talks are free and open to the public.

BSC professor to hold solo art exhibition; opening is Feb. 6
Pamela Venz, professor of art at Birmingham-Southern College, is starting the New Year with a solo exhibition of her artwork at the Durbin Gallery on campus.
