Fiddler Logo Theatre presents Fiddler on the Roof 
Dr. Jeff Kensmoe, BSC associate professor of music, will unleash his rich baritone in the lead role of Tevye for the theatre program’s first production of the season and first-ever performance of Fiddler on the Roof, which takes the stage Oct. 19, 20, and 22 at 7:30 p.m.; Oct. 23 at 2:30 p.m.; and Oct. 27-29 at 7:30 p.m.

Mellon Foundation awards $2.7 million to ACS
The Associated Colleges of the South has received $2.7 million in funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to support faculty advancement.

The Durbin Gallery at Birmingham-Southern College will host Asheville, N.C.-based painter Virginia Derryberry's "Private Domain" exhibition for much of November.

Annual Organ Spooktacular
What would a BSC Halloween be without the annual ritual of “organists behaving badly?” Come out to the Hill Recital Hall on Halloween night at 9 p.m. and listen to BSC students, faculty, and alumni performers--all in costume--playing hauntingly beautiful music. Wear your costume!

BSC professor joins scientists to call for park funding
Renowned biologist Dr. E. O. Wilson co-authored an article in with Birmingham-Southern College Professor of Biology Dr. R. Scot Duncan urging Alabama residents to vote for a ballot amendment in support of funding state parks. Duncan, the author of “Southern Wonder: Alabama’s Surprising Biodiversity,” argues that the state’s parks provide cherished experiences for people and protect a wide range of natural resources.

Concomitant art exhibition opens Sept. 30
BSC Professor of Art Jim Neel's sculpture installation is a powerful exploration of not just the tragedy in Syria and the children living in war, but also how violence impacts children. Concomitant runs through Oct. 27; a Sloss Iron Pour in conjunction with the exhibition is set for Oct. 21 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. outside the Durbin Gallery.

Internationally acclaimed pianist Einav Yarden coming to BSC
The Hugh and Barbara Thomas Master Class Series at Birmingham-Southern College will present guest artist and internationally acclaimed pianist Einav Yarden on Monday, Oct. 10.
