US News Best CollegesU.S. News ranks BSC as a top college
Once again, U.S. News and World Report ranks Birmingham-Southern College in the top tier of liberal arts colleges in the United States. In the publication’s 2017 Best Colleges rankings, released Sept. 13, BSC is the only institution in Alabama included in the category of “Liberal Arts Colleges.”

Concomitant art exhibition opens Sept. 30
BSC Professor of Art Jim Neel‘s sculpture installation is a powerful exploration of not just the tragedy in Syria and the children living in war, but also how violence impacts children--and all of us--from the Sandy Hook massacre to natural disasters. Concomitant runs Sept. 30-Oct 27; opening reception is Friday, Sept. 30, from 6-8 p.m. The events are free and open to the public.

Theatre program to present Fiddler on the Roof
Dr. Jeff Kensmoe, BSC associate professor of music, will unleash his rich baritone in the lead role of Tevye for the theatre program’s first production of the season and first-ever performance of Fiddler on the Roof in October.

Lori Laitman comes to Birmingham-Southern College
The college community got a rare opportunity to experience internationally known composer and visiting artist Lori Laitman Sept. 19 and 20. To close out the visit, a recital of her works was presented by BSC Associate Professor of Music Dr. Jacqueline Leary-Warsaw, the BSC Concert Choir, student soloists, pianist Dr. Kevin Chance ’00, and others.
